Product description
Polystyrol 2710 is a high-impact grade of Polystyrene with improved stress crack resistance, developed for extrusion and thermoforming applications, especially for the refrigerator industry.
Although Polystyrol 2710 can be processed by any method applicable to polystyrene-based plastics, it is most suitable for extrusion/thermoforming.
Due to the superior environmental stress crack resistance and owing to its good balance of mechanical properties, Polystyrol 2710 will exhibit its greatest advantages in applications such as refrigerator liners. Because of its improved chemical resistance it can also be used in food packaging applications.
Physical form and Storage
Polystyrol 2710 is supplied as cylindrical shaped granules. It has to be kept in its original containers in cool, dry place.
Avoid direct exposure to sunlight. Polystyrol 2710 can also be stored in silos.
Food legislation
If used unmodified and under appropriate processing conditions parts from Polystyrol 2710 comply with the usual requirements for food packaging. Detailed written confirmations (e.g. BGVO, FDA) are given on request. Please contact our regional sales office.
Product safety
During processing of Polystyrol 2710 small quantities of styrene monomer may be released into the atmosphere. At styrene vapour concentrations below 20 ppm no negative effects on health are expected. In our experience, the concentration of styrene does not exceed 1 ppm in well ventilated workplaces - that is where five to eight air changes per hour are made.
